Music is one of the most beautiful professions, but also one of the most tortuous. Thousands and thousands of young people dream of making a living from their instruments and, moreover, of doing so in a great orchestra. And this is the story of Henshin, the latest short film by journalist and film director Jorge Pastor. The dreams of Sara Yonehara, a violin student of Japanese origin, resident in Granada, who is looking for her place in the world of classical music and who has the opportunity to demonstrate her talent through the Camerata Garnati, a project of the international professor and concert pianist Pablo Martos, one of the main objectives of which is precisely that, to give visibility to those who are starting out in order to promote their insertion in the job market.

Henshin, which means metamorphosis in Japanese, has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Banco de Sabadell Foundation and the sponsorship of Wind Hunter, Perales Abogados and the Jacinto Rega Foundation. Gastrohunter and Mayumana also supported the project.

Henshin was filmed between 23 and 26 September 2024 in the streets of Granada and at the Centro Lorca, which during that week hosted a series of workshops by Mayumana and a concert by the Camerata Garnati, with the participation of Mayumana itself, in which several works were premiered, such as Metamorfosis, by Ángel López Carreño. Pieces performed with the mastery of the Camerata Garnati, under the direction of Pablo Martos, and with several new performers including Sara Yonehara.

Jorge Pastor assures that Henshin, which is produced by OE Oficina and is being distributed at festivals all over the world by Inout Distribution, ‘is basically cinema’. ‘Cinema in short format with a clear informative component that shows a reality with the clarity of the testimonies and the poetics of the images’, says the filmmaker, who tackles this new adventure after the successes of “La rebelión de Bernarda” and “Teníamos un plan”. Pastor also highlights the enormous work done by Daniel Bayona and Pablo Martos, Henshin's technical and musical directors.
